Twilight of Insomnia. 2006
Twilight of Insomnia
That
thinking map is laid out in front of you
An
unmapped land in the twilight of insomnia
The
clock ticks to the musical fridge
Between
dreams and day there is a bridge
That
carries traffic so graphic
WARPING
time erratic then static
Tick
Token
attempts at sleep
Temporary
contempt for dreams
Of
sand
Only
those awake understand
How
much energy time observed demands
“I’ve
tried everything”
And
heard the birds sing
It
has something to do with thinking
And
that metal feeling
From
looking at a black ceiling
Another
plane, one car in the far lane
Last
train in Brisbane
Bane
of my mind
The
trail of thinking and tea drinking
Leaves
you floating, sometimes sinking
Tick
Taking
attempts at sleep
To
keep a ticking temper
Temper
free
That’s
catch 33
While
the candle flickers and bats bicker
There
should be a bumper sticker
“Insomnia
rules the roads
Mossies think blood is gold
I’m up with the toads”
Midnight
